Hidden Gem: Pozole at Taco Loco

Lesson: Don't judge a restaurant by its signage or decor.

$8.50 at Taco Loco (1726 W Lawrence Ave.) will get you one of the most heartwarming meals in the 'Wood. Pozole, which is a traditional stew from Mexico made with hominy, meat (beef in this case), chili pepper and other seasonings, is the perfect cure for these cold winter nights. This particular version is garnished with fresh radish, white onion, thinly sliced cabbage and avocado.

So skip the enchiladas, tacos, tortas and find your way to the "Caldos" section of the menu and thank me later.

Welcome to the 'Wood

Most Chicagoans have a strong affinity for their neighborhood, I happen to love mine too. Ravenswood has a rich history and a lot to offer. My hope is to paint a picture of what it's like to live in the 'Wood and pay homage to this amazing neighborhood.
